Peace is evidently a modification of security: security
as from damage resulting liable to result from

Peace is and in two acceptations, Peace according as
it is meant to denote inward condition or the absence of
danger from external without objects: in a word peace of mind,
or peace in contradistinction to put for the absence of offer war. In the first
sense it is synonymous to tranquillity: in the other
sense it would be synonymous to security if it were
equally extensive in point of time: peace being confined to
the present, security extending over the future.
