Balneum
As fruits ripen,
the articlesbarrels taken
out monthly in
winter & spring may
be replaced by
fruit & Garden stuff

Nidus's-Choice.
In the Frigidarium
no use of Bran,
Flour, Salt &c
Sugar &c as temperature
Fumes-
but only for excluding
so much
air.
In this respect
a ligand would
do better (ex.gr)
Water) if it does
not harm in other
respectsrespects tin would d
confine the subjects
own heat
—
Water would not
protect the subject
against its own
air (any air that
may be come to be
discharged from it)
The air so discharged
would indeed rise
to the top, but
from thence it would
continue impregnating
the water
below-
To prevent this
apply a thin
stratum of oil.
This would cut
off the communication
between the
water and an
air bubble, when
once risen confining
the time
of impregnation
to the time during
ascent rise.
But would air
be so discharged in
such low temperature?

N.B. In the Balneum,
if there is
any difference between
stratum &
stratum, it is
always the uppermost
that will
be warmest:
therefore if the
thermometer is at
32 at the surface,
one may be sure
of its not being
higher anywhere
else.
If bad conductors
are used to fill up
the place of Air
the Refrigeration
will be proportionally
tardy &
difficult to ascertain.
—
To confine the
Barrels &c under
thick Water, use
either a weight
tied to each Barrel
&c, or a
Hinch latticed
trap door for them
all
—
By those means of
these trap doors,
there may be two
or more stages or
stories in each binn
one under another,
taking care that
those articles be
put in last that
are to come out first
