1o. By Exsiccation 2o. By preventing the reabsorption of moisture
Exsiccation. 1o. The greatest part of the mosture carried off
by exposure to a blast of common air - to wind &c.
2. The rest by carried away by heated air previously dried
by exposure when cold to diliquescent salts: as.
lime? Caustic potash? - Common Salt.- Nitrate of Ammonia
Nitrate of lime, Nz, Muriat of lime or of Magnesia Mj,f,z:
Mn, k, nk, l, t, c. -Aq, v: Citq Maly o v e Lactate
Benzoat of potass, r, &c
Qu. Would not the following Apparatus: answer every purpose.

a, cooling chamber into which air
descends before it passes thro salts
b: cold water, or ice.
c: shelves strewed with Nitrate of lime &c over which the air passes along
d tube thro' which the air passes to e, the heating chamber.
f; fire by which the water in g is heated: h: materials to be
exsiccated.
N.B. The Air will descend in a & ascend in e & h in
consequence of its different specific gravityies at these places.
