Defence or Preface for Fragment
After this exception made which candour and discernment
and Cander join alike in calling for, in insisting upon what may
be apparent without fear of calumny is that in under a
mixt government such as ours profitable abuse in
every shape, and for the sake of profitable abuse, abuse
in every shape, and for the sake of abuse in every
shape imperfection in every shape, in a word
misgovernment in every shape are,⊞ ⊞ and so long as those who should be judges over the servants of the Crown, are accomplices with and under them, will continue to be objects of sincere and heartfelt
