Division Distinction to delusion derived from the matter of corruption,
delusion derived from other sources.

Note here in the first place the first great division
that will require to be made of this ample subject field: That
delusion of which the matter of corruption is the instrument
and or say the source and the

Note here in the first place two cases in one or
other of which the whole field of delusion and delusive influence
is comprehended. One is that in which the effect
delusion and corruption have the same instrument: the
matter of corruption at by the receipt or prospect after while it operates in the will in
the case of some this or that individual operates on
the understanding of this or that other one to whose will
it has not happened to apply itself: operating or not
operating as it may happen on the understanding of him in whose will it
has operated with effect. The case is that in which the
effect delusion in question is produced in the understanding
by instruments and causes by which no influences have such is the nature
which are not of a nature to operate upon the
will in a direct and immediate way in the way of immediate application: In a word to operate
on it but through the medium of the understanding.

Power, wealth and factitious dignity are examples that may serve to bring
to view the particulars that belong to the first case: fallacies or fallacious arguments in
general, those which belong to the latter other case: power
wealth and factitious dignity by the opinion, are erroneous, as it will be seen to be which it is
the nature of them to cause to be entertained of those by in whose
possession
those external instruments of felicity, objects of general desire
are possessed or are supposed to be regarded as being.
