Constitut. Code
On every occasion Always the powerless the unopulent, the undignified are
spoken and written of represented as less honest benevolent, less knowing less judicious, less able
than they are? Why? unless even that by being which they have thus been rendered objects
of contempt they less sympathy and antipathy may be excited by the oppression depredation and contempt
of which they are the destined objects: less sympathy be towards
the superior be the injury less towards the authors
of it.
On every occasion the powerful the opulent, the dignified
are represented as more honest benevolent, more knowing, more
judicious and more able than they are: and in particular
as to benevolence in particular not only less benevolent than
they are but less benevolent than any human beings can be.
Why? that under favour of the ascribed benevolence, they
may exercise with the less disturbance reap the fruits
united fruits of selfishness and malevolence.
