New Almanack. Hints for itCopy done to p.7 except p.5 sent Dec. 5 by post to Davenport Hall

1. Take the Tabular form.
The usual matter on
one side: New matter
on the other.
These Tabular form
Almanacks are of this sort is frequently
kept in a wooden frame
like a print.

In this case, on
turning the frame, the
new matter will appear
at once.

2. On the New-matter
such give lists of the
Society's work with
Tabular views of the
Contents.

2. Give advice and
information and advice
on the subject of Domestic
economy.

4. Give Maps of England
&c on wood.

5. Give J.B.'s Fundamental Leading
Principles of Private Deontology.
But in this case
it may care must be
taken that his work
when published may not
be exposed to the charge of
plagiarism.
It may perhaps be better not
to mention his name: for
fear of deterring Church of
Englandists and other religionists
from taking in the Almanack.

But the purpose may be
answered by the notion
that it comes from an
author as yet unknown
whose work sooner or later will be published.

6. Per Bowring, Devonshire
mode of
getting custom for
Moore's Almanack.
A large allowance is
made to the booksellers –
who add to the Almanac
an extra Sheet of such
matter as is most attractive
to their readers. In Devonshire
it generally consists
of Ghost-Stories – modern
miracles & Coarse Anecdotes.
Some give information of
local interest, such as
Lists of Fairs, Names of
Magistrates, Market days,
Other Domestic receipts,
Gardener's Calanders, means for
removal of nuisances.
