Proposal for A School of Legislation proposed addressed

To Law Students in the Law
To the any such liberal-minded and publick-spirited
part class of Students in the Law

Instruction in the Law offered with a
view to the improvement in Legislation

The Advertiser Author of this Address having from early Youth devoted
his time to the research enquiry <add>investigation</add> of the best means of contributing
to the perfection improvement of the law in all its branches,
the cleansing it of such imperfections as are the
natural concomitants accompaniments to the imperfect and still progressive state state of human
knowledge, the holding up to view the true grounds foundations
and reasons in point of utility of such parts as appear already to
have attained the summit of perfection the extending
to the whole system such as far as the nature of
the case permitts such features of excellence as are
discernible in every part of it, and lastly in form <add>at length</add> as the
communication and practical result fruit of all preceding labours of the investigation enquiry,
the framing a compleat Digest or body of law institutions in the form
of Statute Law wanting nothing but the stamp of
authority to give render it the force of law a compleat
body of the law, [+] [+] but being at the same time duly conscious of on the one hand of his own deficiencies limited powers on the other hand of the vastness magnitude not to say the immensity of the task but especially from its having been the accumulated result eventpartly of successive consequences of successive legislation acting upon the spur of successive occasions and consequently without any plan or order partly the work of successive Judges deciding on the occasion of successive appeals successively made to know and think in that part unprovided with any assignable form or assemblage of words to clothe itself with - & make itself known is ambitious desirous of procuring the
assistance of a few young gentlemen who would
be willing to bestow entrust give a portion their time to his disposal
to be applied to the above purposes in return for such instruction as it may be in
his power to afford.
