The persons to whom whose views and situations an offer of this kind
may be appear suitable adapted may to conceive be distinguishable into these
classes
1. Young gentlemen persons of noble or other wealthy opulent
distinguished families whose fortune in profession and connections entitle afford
them an immediate or speedy prospect while their views and feelings dispose them
to look out or expect or hope for a seat in the
legislature Parliament and who disdaining the idea of
sitting there as mere cyphers would be content not grudge
to bestow a certain measure of labour and application
in the view of meriting their preeminence earning their honours to a preeminence in rank and power a preeminence in useful and honourable service
by the importation of a stock of solid substantial knowledge
such as may enable them upon occasion
to take an efficient and useful part in that
most honorable line of public service.
Young gentlemen of like similar situations and views
but to whom opulence however secured in respect to the same being to a certain degree
rather in expectancy than in possession look to
a situation of that kind as an object more or less
distant and contingent.
3. Young gentlemen of fortune also of the opulent class whose views, either
from want of any perceptible opening or from
an aversion from is distaste for the bustle of public business so public a stage,
do not point are not pointed at that eminence at that particular
eminence, but would take a pleasure in contributing
either by the purse or in a situation of provincial
