Pressing instead of wring
out the water would save
linen from much injury.
---page break---
Expedition is absolutely
necessary in cleaning muslins
&c worked with coloured
silk, for delicate printed
cottons, & for ill printed
ones. Separate persons
should be employed to rub
out spots with the hands
others should be ready to
receive their pieces as they
are finished washing, then
must be quickly pressed,
rolled in dry cloths immediately,
pressed in these,
then opened & ironed, framed
or glazed without delay.
Very high charges are made
for cleaning fine gowns
of this description — Perhaps
they require too much skill
& attention to make it worth
undertaking them.
