1 Political prospects
Forecast and Forecast -
As far as I have had occasion to observe, the very idea
of forecast is disclaimed and reprobated by in political men
of the present as will without doors as within doors: and it seems to
have become a received maxim, a maxim received as a
maxim of wisdom, never to untill you have seen a the steed
status, so much as to attempt to shut the stable door, till
the steed or at least a steed has been stolen. A man
who should propose to prevent the mischief before the problem
has had a task of it would be regarded by either as a
dangerous man, as an innovator, or as a visionary, or both
in one. If a income is pointed out of evading a tax
or other duty, it would be a man is asked with an air of triumph
whether an evasion of the hand in question has ever been
known to be practised. If a name mischievous act is pointed out, which
for want of an appropriate prohibition and punishment may
be committed with impunity, the question is, can you
produce an instance of ill being done.
