Clause B - Supplemental Article Article 2

Art. 2. . And whereas it was originally intended that
the said Penitentiary House should be erected on a
certain spot at Battersea Rise containing 79 Acres
and one Road, as in the said Act of the 34th year
of his Majesty's Reign is mentioned, and that the
number of Convicts Prisoners which such Penitentiary House
should be calculated to accommodate in the first instance
should be 1000 and no more And whereas
the quantity of ground now intended it being now intended it being now intended number of
Prisoners which the said Penitentiary House is now
intended to accommodate amounts to 2000, and
the quantity of ground to be intended to be annexed to provided for the use of
the said Penitentiary will in case the [+] said Lot [+] piece of waste Land constituting Lot D and containing 35 Acres or thereabouts clear of Roads should

the quantity of ground of which the said Jeremy
Bentham will have the use and benefit as well
for the purpose of the said Penitentiary Establishment
as for the purpose of the subsidiary Establishment
to be provided for the maintenance of the said Prisoners
after their discharge according to as in the eighteenth Article
is mentioned will be reduced lessened by the amount of the
said 35 Acres of waste Now therefore it is hereby
further agreed that in compensation for such eventual reduction
an allowance in money shall forthwith be made to the said Jeremy
