Contract Amendments Ao 1800

And whereas in the judgment of the said Lords
Commissioners it is not will not being necessary that the said Lots
C & D should both of them be purchased for the purpose
of the said P intended Penitentiary House, the said
Lot D is not intended to be purchased otherwise than
in case the powers necessary for the purchase of
the said Lot C should not be to be obtained from
Parliament. And whereas according as the said
Lot C D should or should shall or shall not be to be obtained as
aforesaid it is intended that the entire Piece or Parcel
of Ground to be purchased for the uses and purposes
of the said such intended Penitentiary House or Penitentiary Houses
should shall be composed of either of the said Lots A
B & C or of the said Lots A B C and D respectively,
together with such other Piece or Parcel Pieces of Ground,
if any, as in either case shall be necessary to compose a fit and
convenient spot for the purposes of the said Act

And Whereas the said Jeremy Bentham hath proposed
at his own expence but upon such terms and
conditions and for such considerations as are herein after
mentioned to erect and build a Penitentiary house either on
the said Piece or Parcel of Ground composed of the said
Lots A B & C or of the said oth Piece or Parcel of Ground
composed of the said Lots A B & C only, [+] D which ever should shall [+] according as the said Lot D shall or shall not on condition of such in case the said Lot D should not
at the option of the said Lords Commissioners whichever shall
for eventually have been obtained as aforesaid and to
adapt such Penitentiary House for the purposes of the
said Act in such manner as hereinafter is mentioned
