than mitigate it: to render confusion more confused,
corruption more corrupt, uncertainty more uncertain. In

In itself every applicati individual act by which
application is made of the corrupt principle the principle
nullification is mischievous: it is mischievous
upon that individual scale. But, supposing a
general rule long established and uniformly observed, by
which in a describable case clearly marked out
by it (if under the unwritten branch of the law this be not too much to suppose course for supportive) the application
were of this principle is prescribed, the violation
of such a rule, howsoever mischievous the rule may be,
