above mentioned attaches and the Judge
stands exposed to censure.

But alas! no part indeed was it of
the Reverend Doctors meaning to recommend
any such course: no not in any one
of those its three points; and in respect
of the first object viz the general rule
it is the basis of his system that it was
in its nature indescribable and inexpressible.

To gain credit indeed for such
strictness may perhaps have been within
his view viz so far as could be done
without earning it. Accordingly no sooner
is the Act spoken of as that which
ought to be a judicial Act but its title
to that character is explained away
by the description given of it — "impartiality" ......
