Transferring
The Writing on Drawing having been prepared on Transfer
Paper pursuant to the Instructions marked 18 the
Stone with a perfectly true and smooth face may be laid
in the Press
In order to ascertain the degree of pressure, which for
transferring should be moderate, lay a piece of clean
paper on the face of the Stone, then a couple of pieces
of soft paper and the oiled board. The Tympan Frame
is then turned down and the carriage placed under
the scraper, which must have a true edge a little rounded,
The pressure is increased or diminished by the screw in
the centre. After this has been done, The Transfer Sheet
may be carefully damped on the back with a weak
solution of Nitric Acid and Water. It may then be
carefully placed on the Stone the soft paper & oiled
board over it, The Tympan turned down as before
and the pressure applied.
