the Nitric Acid and Water is too strong, and the writing
may be injured. — A few experiments will so enable
a person to determine on the required strength without
trouble.
Gum Water
Put some Gum Arabic into a Jar or Cup - add cold water
and allow it to stand till it dissolves to the consistency of
moderately thick Cream, It should be strained before using,
Care must be taken not to use it after it becomes sour.
Printing Paper
Care must be taken to obtain paper of good Manufacture
if either acid bleached or sized with bad materials
good impressions cannot be obtained.
Damping Paper
The Paper requires to be moderately damp for Lithogc
Printing. every 3rd 4th or 5th sheet according to the hardness
of the Paper passed thro' Water - allowed to stand 12 hours
