Parl. Reform Bill
4. Insinuation the 4th. Miselection through corruption.
Through corruption! Behold to what shifts distress, by absence of all
argument a cause may be reduced. Through corruption!
The matter of corruption – Under secrecy of suffrage by whom will it be given? by whom
can it be received?
What is now wanting in argument having for its object
the giving direction to self-formed judgment is made up
for by assertion ipse dixitism, having for its object the formation of a
derivative judgment. In our minds, of all the projects of
reform ever afford to the consideration of Parliament that
was the worst which proposed that the Members should
be all chosen in one day .... stolen into Parliament
through Parish Vestries.
