"Morn. Chron. May. 2, 1820.
"At a Meeting of the Association for the Reputation of
"Infidel Publications, held at No. 52 Statton Garden, London,
"on Saturday, April 29, 1820.
"Sir James Bland Burges, Bart. in the Chair.
"It was Resolved, That the distinguished countenance and
"support with which this Association has been honoured by many
"illustrious characters, and particularly by the patronage and
"subscriptions of his Most Excellent Majesty, justifies the hope
"that its unwearied efforts on behalf of our Established Church
"and Government will prosper, and that the circulation of
"its publications, already very considerable, will continue to
"increase; but as the publication of a weekly work, such as
"The Christian; is attended with a constant and heavy expense,
"the Association feel it their duty to make a further appeal to all
"sincere and well-disposed Christians, and especially to the Dignitaries
"and Members of the Established Church, for their aid
"and contributions towards the fulfillment of so laudable and necessary
"an undertaking.
"Books for receiving subscriptions, in the name of Richard
"Clark, Esq. Chamberlain of the City of London, are open at the
"Banking House of Messrs Ladbroke and Co; Messrs Pole & Co;
"Messrs. Hoare and Co, Fleet Street; Messrs. Coutts and Co; Sir H.
"Curtis and Co; Messrs. Glyn and Co; and Messrs. Hammersley & Co.
NB. The Christian, No. 24, will be published on Saturday
"next, 6th May, and continued regularly every Saturday,
"to be had of Mr. John Bird, Secretary to the Association, No 52,
"Statton Garden; and of all the Booksellers in town and country.
