On the 7th inst the debate was continued on the
law of the Press, when articles 6, 7 and 8, were discussed &
agreed to, as were likewise articles 9 & 10. On the 8th inst
permission was granted to two Members from the Colonies
to return home on account of their health. Two Resolutions
were then proposed & adopted.—1. That the preparatory
Meetings of the two Cortes being about to take place, the present
should close their labours. 2. That a Commission should
be appointed to represent to His Majesty the mode & the
time of doing so. The discussion was again resumed on the
law of the Press, when five more of its articles were debated &
disposed of. Before the conclusion of the Sitting, the Commission
appointed to inquire into the mode & time of terminating
the present Session of the Cortes delivered their
Report. The following three articles contain the opinion of
the Commission:—
1. That it may be decreed that the Extraordinary Cortes close
their Session on the 14th instant.
2. That in conformity with the rules of the Cortes a Deputation
of 22 Members may be appointed to communicate to his
Majesty that on the said Day the present Cortes end their labours.
3. That this Commission fulfill the object of its appointment
on Sunday, the 10th inst.
These proposed arrangements were adopted by the Assembly.

On the 9th the Commission appointed to propose what
ought to be done regarding the state of the Colonies presented the
result of its deliberations. The Commission ratified its former opinion
adding only that the Commissioners of the Government
should be authorized to reject any propositions that
should be made to them contrary to the liberty & property of
the Spanish or European Americans who should remain attached
to the mother country, & should desire, to quit the ultra-
