From a statistical view of the commerce of the United
States for the year ending 30th Septr 1821, it appears
that the value of imports in America Vessels was 58,025
899 dollars & in foreign vessels 4,559,829, making total
62,585,924 dol. In this sum England, Man & Berwick
entered in the proportion of 21,621,813; Ireland 533,
756; Scotland 865,173; French European ports on the Atlantic,
4,072,330; Haiti 2,207,558; Cuba 5,661,979; Spanish
South American Colonies 1,106,259; China 3,111,261;
Asia generally 123,321; British East Indies 1,530,799;
Russia, 1,862,199; Danish West Indies, 1,958,778, dollars
&c. value of domestic exports in American Vessels 34,465
272 doll. & in foreign vessels 9,206,622 — total — 43,671,884.
Foreign exports in American vessels, 20,710,700 — in foreign
vessels 591,788 — total 21,302,488. American tonnage
entered inwards 165,098 — outwards 804,947 — Foreign
tonnage entered inwards 81,526; outwards, 83,073, of which
55,686 were British.
