J.B. to the Herald Speakers Job
The Speakers Job
Sir
Through the medium of your paper, allow
me to draw the attention of the public to an abuse now
on the carpet – an abuse for the shaking the door of against
which all Members of the House of and all
their constituents hav are called upon by a mor highly
important interest.
This is the query to all the several the of functionaries
in whom the dispatch of a Bill for a Private Act of Parliament
depends, the shape of payment by the day?
Who does not see? and is it possible there should be
any man blind enough not to see that by giving this
shape to the remuneration – a premium and that an irresistible
an one is given for the swelling to its maximum,
the delay of the operation, as well as the expence.
It is to this practice of paying by fees instead
of salary, by fees for the demand taking of which occasion may,
is are capable of being multiplied by the takers – it is to this
case that we are indebted for everything that we
have to complain of in the state of judicature: for
the sake of justice to be for, for the demand of it to all
.
