been much unfit than from the Ionian Islands to England.
The Committee have endeavored ever where the Deputies would not concur as far they were able to
lend effort to these plans of improvement and they have therefore
made several grants to individuals going to Greece, especially
for the purpose of spreading education among the people.
Some of the reports of the establishment of schools &c.
are exceedingly interesting, but as this object has now
become a special one they will leave to the Committee for
promoting Education in Greece the pleasure & the
duty of tracing the progress of improvement.

Two other gentlemen Mess Lytton Bulwer & Hamilton Browne Members of the Committee left England
to make arrangements respecting the loan & as the representatives of the Committee in August 1824. Unfortunately on their
arrival at Nauplia they were attacked by that fatal fever
which has destroyed so many of those enthusiastic volunteers who
tur brought their talents to the services of the Greek cause – &
have been compelled to return with debilitated & broken
health.

The Amphitrite – the first vessel vessel which had ever hoisted
in a part of England the flag of Greek independence arrived
in the Thames in October 1824. On board this ship were
Ten boys sent by the Greek Government to the Committee
on Mr Blaquiere's suggestion to be educated in England at the expense of the latter
The boys were chosen from the Islands from the Morea,
from Livadia, & other parts of Greece. Among them was
