Thren IX
Thou has left a dreary blank in my House
My lovely Orszyka by thy disappearance
Though full the House, still it is empty for us
So much have we lost by the loss of a little soul.
Thy such spoken for tongue prattled to all, sung to all
In every corner thou of the House thou were present
Thou didst never permit thy mother to grieve
Nor thy father to rock his head with excessive thought
Alternately embracing her or she with tenderness
Delighting us with thy pleasing childish carefree
Now all is desolate and silent – Emptiness dwells in the house
No joy no laugh is there
Grief looks from every corner
And the heart in vain seeks relief.
