Was heard before my abode & thy saluations
blended with the songs – & thy silent sighs – breathed
for me

Those amusements ere fled – I know not what nor wheth are they
My heart is full of sorrow, my ear of silence
Where are the wonted smiles – the accustomed
Negligent youth – does thou not know that bliss
And the hour of spring quickly disappear.

For thou has not said Farewell! & my sorrowing
eyes found no sleep, and tho' mutually we shall
enjoy no pleasing night – but a sleepless & sad
one, with secret sighs – that shall be thine.

Roxolanias lovely maid! by your rosy lips
Why do the sweet chords of your lyre sound the praise
of the graceful Thelegdon
The dignity of the highest flame merits the sublimest lay
Would the (warmth) (eternal passion) that glows in the heart should shine like the dawn
Not so the dawn from his splendent looks dispense
his her bright hair
Not so like when the young Thelegdon when burning with bright eye
Of hidden flames, – not so when she covers her fair (fine)
cheeks with blushes
Ye lights span over heaven! if you want to be brighter
You will take it from her – and ye go beautiful goddesses
Who in the regions of the north grow stiff from frost
Ye will warm yourself at her. Not the extent of sea nor the depths unfathomed
Not the ceaseless years nor the hard murmurs
May they be unstained – they will not rust at her
Thus begin joyous hopes your new songs begin
And ye delicate maids of Roxolania praise with thou my Thelegdon
