Massans

In the fair fields of Rzeczniow in a glade
amidst the thick wood, which surrounded it with a
ridge of budding trees the fair Amaryllis watched her
flocks in the shrub covered glade – At her side under
an elm, Danet & Myrtil sat
Skilful in courtship; & in the reeds music and
alternately tuned this pleasing song

D. The bee hums on the flowing meadow and from one
fresh flowers speeds to another fresh flower gathering
sweetness, but the flower that is withering she avoids
nor takes from its sweets. I follow the bee – and
search after freshness which a berries and seek not what is
withered. Fair Amarillis! Larna thou art a fresh flower rose
but remember that the withered rose delights not

M. A lovely dove stays sits on the ridge of a clear well fountain and
looks into the waters – he walks he pecks his plumage then washes
its down neat feathers in the bright fair bath & seeing another
in the watery mirror bends towards him wishing to
benear him. The cooer flaps his wing. The other does the
same & approaches. Believe it not bird – it is only thy mirror
