Influence of the fre Society of the Friends of Science.
Whilst the one Poles were eager in regaining
Their country's existence by force of ams, the
Aids other guided by the same national spirit
were intent upon rescuing its and even
raising its moral greatness. The Society of the
Friends of Science was established at Warsaw
chiefly for promoting this end. Of its labours
you may consult my Letters. This Society
however was had not only the only merit in
rescuing the deeds of ancient Poles, by wro the
enterprize of large extensive historical works,
but its influence chiefly in regulating the
education of the youth young generation.
The pedagogii became an object of deep consideration
and study: as well regulated
educat system of education was thought
the necess most conducive to the cultivation
of the national spirit.
