The Glowworm

Tis only when the Sun hath left his throne
And evening's twilight darkens into night – When gentler stars & planets shine alone
That the small glowworm sheds his topaz light.
And feeds his solitary lamp in solitude recess:
Even so do truth & wisdom loveliest shine
Even so doth virtue most benignly bless –
And love oft thus beams forth from some o'er shadowed shrine
