M.I. Ohenier 76

A King – that King misnamed the wise
(Strange union) – in his wisdom cried
"O vanity of vanities –
All vain – – live – & all beside
Even love!! – There are some names one fain
Would in immortal memory shrine –
But memory s holds her lamp in vain
They care least Like meteors darkening as they shine.
'Twere sweet to such a dream to rest
When But when the hour of deepest gloom
Puts out the pale torch soft & blest
We feel the songs around the tomb
Delight not those who sleep below
