Great Sun of truth – tho' folly's mists may veil thee
And errors clouds mists & envy's storms, assail thee
Thou wilt pursue thy glorious course. – He bow'd
His peaceful head & died – A mighty cloud
Unwanted hung o'er nature – the firm rock
Was split – & Zion trembled with the shock
He bow'd his head & died – O not in vain
So great a sacrifice for erring men –
That seed shall bring a hundred thousand fold –
A wondrous harvest – for he hath unrolled
The chart of heaven – & pointed out the way road,
And he hath raised him a sublime abode
In the hearts of men, – & thence his gentle sway
Is heard in only whispers soft – "Obey"
Father who dwellest in light – to thee I bring
My heart – accept the humble offering,
O at Thy Sun of light my path illume –
Thou call'st me to its beams – & lo! I come
