Saturday Evening
Another walk's cast moments sun;
Another all its toils & cares are done:
While yonder starry heaven above
Is calm & bright with peace & love
Then welcome, holy night that brings
Both peace & love upon thy its wings
And in thy its solemn stillness bears:
Our soaring souls to higher spheres.
Ye spirits guarding spirits that delight
To recl curtain your dark path careers in night
Spirits that sometimes deign to hold
With earth communion manifold
Come to my bosom – & reveal
The secrets of your citadel
Show me your temple & your home
And where ye go & whence ye come
An ye the ministers that spread
You glorious concave o'er our head?
And did ye scatters at our feet
Flowers fair & smelling sweet?
