5. For every year after the first he shall receive £12,000:
for which he is to maintain any number not exceeding 1,000
for that year.
6 The aforesaid £27,000 to be paid by instalments: viz:
£10,000 immediately on signing of this Agreement: £10,000 in
three months from the date hereof: and £7000 so soon as the
Proposer shall have declared himself in readiness to receive the
prisoners.
7 The aforesaid £12,000 to be paid quarterly half yearly viz: £6000 on
the commencement of the first half year, and £6000 on the
commencement of the second.
8 The proposer to be allowed to employ the Prisoners for his own
benefit, and to take to himself the whole produce of their labour.
9 No Convict to be delivered to the Proposer under this agreement
whose term of confinement has not two years to run
at the least.
II. Articles to be performed on the part of the Proposer.
1. The whole cost of the Buildings and of whatever else is
necessary to adapt the ground in question to the purpose, shall be
at the Proposer's expence.
2. Each prisoner shall be supplied at least twice a day with
wholesome food, each time to the extent of his desires: but the
quality in other respects is expressly reserved to the choice of
the Proposer as a means of inducing them without the aid of infliction of
corporal severities to set their hands to labour.
