Contract - White - Journal
15 & 16 Aug. 1796 Mr. B. Will Could you do me the favour to
let me see the Draught now, that I may see where
the difficulty lies, and endeavour to obviate it?
Mr White (after turning over a few papers) — I
can't find it — I suppose I must have left it
at my other Chambers.
Mr. B. I will take the liberty of calling again
the next time I come this way again , in hopes
of your having it here by that time — Do you
think you shall be at here again tomorrow?
Mr White — O yes every day this week.
Tuesday 16 Aug. 1796
Called at Mr White's Chambers at 1/2 after 2 —
found a gentleman there in conversation with
him — Watched the gentleman out , and enter'd
the Chambers as he was quitting there at 1/2 after 3.
Mr B. Well, Sir, have you happened to lay
your hand on my Contract ?
Mr White — Yes but I have not brought it
here — it is at my other Chambers still — [no
apology , no regret.]
Mr B. Perhaps it may be here tomorrow -
Mr White - Yes I will bring it with me tomorrow
- But you must come earlier.
