9 Contract - White Journal

17 Aug. 1796 of words the effect of which would have been to
make these annuities — these superannuation
annuities — commence immediately upon discharge
whatever might be the age at that period, 18 or
20 for, 18, or 15 for example; although by the
very next words which he had just been reading
it was stipulated that the commencement in question
should amongst other things be determined by
referees. With great humility I pointed
his attention to that circumstance. Without saying
a syllable of reply , but with a circumstance full
of gloom, he struck out the obnoxious words.

After leaving with him a Copy of the forms Instrument
of Appointment of Feoffee as engrossed.
but with alterations in red Ink and for blanks
adapted to the charge to be made in respect of
the spot , [+] [+] together with a short letter explanatory of the occasion of the Draught, & the plan pursued in framing it/ I took my leave : having first heard
him declare his intention of carrying laying shewing the proposed
amendment of the 18 article not to the
r Gen.l as before , but to the Atty Gen:l who
he said was in town.
