To the Lords Commissioners of his Majestys
Treasury - the Memorial of Jeremy Bentham
of Queen's Square Place Lincolns Inn Esqr
humbly showeth
That Your Memorialist having understood
that the obtainment of a portion of the Wash called Fields (in relation
to which Notices had, by direction of Your Lordships,
been inserted by Your Lordships sollicitor
in the paper Evening Newspapers in the course of last
October last declaration of the insertion is now regarded as for the
purpose of bringing in into Parliament a Bill for the purchase
of a part thereof such portion for the purpose use of the intended
Penitentiary House)is now regarded as impracticable,
and but for reasons which could be
equally customary, with regard to all any other Lands
subject to rights of common, finds himself confined alleged
to revert to tracts confined in regard
to any remaining all such propositions he may have
to submitt to your Lordships in the form subject
confined to such Lands in separate ownership: viz. to such
subject to any Lands severally as he them
Lands of that class description as written the
four counties contiguous to the City of London
all which are all which are by the Act of the 7th of July 1796 placed
at the disposal of your Lordships,
for the purpose aforesaid, subject only to
the certain limitation and exceptions in the said therein
but mentioned.
