Grounds of Relinquishment. Botany Bay. 1
Grounds of Relinquishment
New
South Wales.

They would have said or stammered out something about Botany
Bay: I suppose so: that, as being the
furthest place in the world that an excuse
could have been fetched from, was the place
pretended upon as your Lordship says, as
the place that was to find them in excuses:
they had as your Lordship will see been
hammering at it already: the first floor of
the Treasury had held come to an understanding common with the second
floor, and they had ventured to talk about
it in whispers. But in these whispers
the conversation had expired: for though neither
every thing depended upon it, neither
party daring to open its mouth in Parliament
the communication, and there had been
in abundance for the making of it, neither
party had dared to open its mouth upon the
subject in Parliament.

Botany Bay to cease
after the Prison Improvements
the badness of the reasoning
in the future use offering
inferences with regard
to the latter.

This the better
place to fetch
false
from us being
the most distant
and out of sight.

2
For the purpose
of the argument
no matter what the
state of that Colony
really was but
what they thought of
it.

Of Respecting the real estate of that six-monthly
distant establishment, and its comparison as value in the character
an instrument of reform and economy in
comparison with the rival nascent establishment which
it was to be employ'd to crack in embryo
it is not necessary to the argument that I should
I shall not for the moment attempt to engage
your Lordship's notice. The question in point
at present, is—not merely what that establishment
is or was in itself, but also what they thought
it appeared of it to be to them who had determined to
make the best and turn it to this account to make the most of it.

+ One improvement on the general
question of systematic fraud & perjury

What the establishment Colony
really was in reality is one thing
what they the it was in their
own opinions is another.
Both Each point has its distinct
use: the former as to what
shall be done in regard to
the two rival establishments
the other as to what will
be the of Parliament
and the public towards those
who for this purpose pretend profess to have be looked upon the establishment at the as that which ought to be made separate from the same establishment under their eyes.
