any body could speak from. - Why? because there was none.-
As the foundation of the Colony, and for several years after- not
a thought bestowed by any body - either by the man of eloquence,
or by his man of economy (for as to the ostensible founder light

most prominent object - the least palpably absurd of all its objects.
For years together, communications upon communications pouring
in all the while from the settlement - and all the while at the
Treasury pure negligence: and this in a time of peace, while

statesmen by experience, comes the remedy, consisting in an all-
-confounding dose, made up of a grain of ordinary prudence,
drowned in a torrent of most extraordinary injustice.-

Ask them, my Lord anyone, what it is gentlemen now think fit
to this characteristic feature of their "improved Colony"? At
what period did it first become an object to them? When their
Colony was first determined upon, was this use of it still unthought
of? Thus Then even in the minds of the authors the only ground
which any body could ever find for the measure, was still wanting
to it- Was this the original object of the measure? - When the
injustice, which consisted in the design, was all their own, while
the utitily, which depended on the measures taken for the
giving effect to the unjust design, was not so much as aimed
at. Let us pack them off to a place they can never get away
from, and then let them come back and welcome. Such was
the ground of action: proceeding: - the mere crude idea without a particle of
