quantity, but to fix it to a point: to insert there the offender
shall be transported for so many years certain in most
instances either for 7 years or for 14 years. But
instances are not wanting in which the quantum is left
to be marked by the judicial authority, within certain prescribed
limits; which and in these instances there are
compass words are employed by which it is expressly declared that these limits
shall not be exceeded: On a cursory glance taken for the
purpose of finding exan illustration merely, and without
engaging in the useless task of forming a compleat list,
I find five instances in which the toke words not exceeding
are employed: in those one of them the term wih which
it is thus declared shall not be exceeded is fourteen years: + + 28 G.3.c.55.§4.Frame work destroying
