from as would be adapted to the it in the way of reference to
the several subordinates, and assure his assistance in the penning it. Mr Long
had expressed several times to Mr Nepean his being satisfied
in the justice of of the principle of Mr Benthams claim
of an allowance for rise of prices, but would not enter upon
the decision of any other point.
20 June 1800. Mr Bentham to the Lords of
the Treasury. Memorial with the same prayer, but in
a compressed form, not so much as 3/4 three sides of 3/4 of a
sheet of paper: consequently stripped of reasons, historical
statements, and reference. Revised corrected looked up and perfectly
approved of and transmitted by Mr Nepean. Though
drawn immediately it could not be transmitted before,
being Mr Bentham being in this instance as in that of
the former memorial obliged of course to wait Mr Nepean's
leisure. Mr Nepean afterwards saw Mr Long
from whom he reached as before abundance of general
assurances, and sent word to Mr Bentham that Mr
Long was now in earnest, and every thing in a fair .
