The goodness of the intention being assumed (and certainly
in general not without just ground in point of
experience)t the application of these to measures

Human Dispositions and affections considered with respect to their influence
on the human happiness of mankind, have been distinguished
into the selfish (or—rather self-regarding) the anti-social
or dissocial—and the social. All of them are necessary
ingredients in mans nature: if all of them be
but above all the self-regarding, from by which come at the
same time arise are made/come the deepest cuts most obstacles to and the
largest defalcations that are made by any instrument into the from the cause of human happiness.

The self regarding and the antisocial affections the mainsprings
of human conduct have for their principal
regulators the social affections: to which head belongs
those produced by the influence exerted on the human mind will
by the several sanctions afforded by the principles characterized by the words of law,

lots of pain or pleasure expected from these several sources
