2. In respect of
economy the
work not paying
for half the Space
under the best
Management.
In respect of economy, £1000 a year perpetual rent, and for that
£1000 a year £500 neat profit—(neat in other respects)
produced. That Loss £50 per cent of the rent: and to produce
this loss—that is to reduce the loss to this , such
exertions and such talents as it would be in vain presumptuous to count
upon in any future instance. Had equal talents and with equal
exertions been employ'd upon a larger scale, instead of speaking,
the national debt I am inclined to think would not have weighed been
quite so heavy as the it does. Such as has been the effect of improved
prisons, under the Blackburn architecture.
