1 Bicetre Proposal Objections
I hear objections: — one person to be trusted
with so much money! one person to be trusted with
the fate of so many individuals! that person a
foreigner! and personal interest his motive!
Nothing more natural than these objections:
nothing more capable of being compleatly obviated
to the satisfaction of every any one that will take the
trouble to reflect.

My study has been to reduce the expence magnitude of this part of the trust to its smallest
possible dimensions, & the magnitude of this part
of the trust, and I hope I have succeeded: lower
I think I may say much I believe than any other person could have conceived
possible. Little or none of the expence of the building
need pass through my hands: or not more certainly
than I am capable of giving full as good security
for as any body else could do. If any checks can
be suggested that would take any thing from the
risk without standing in the way of the success, I
submit to them whatever without enquiring what they are they may be. Query degree
