To Parnell
a Chancellor of the Exchequer there who drinks drinks
nothing after his dinner but water in its stead instead of wine If Should you
happen to come across him, do play him a trick
and a pint drop a little of the word-remembering water
we were talking of into his glass can.
Allow me a little laugh for my money, now I am in the mood for it and
believe me when I am serious, Dear Sir, very truly &
respectfully Yours
3
I send you No Postscript yet: a good part
of my time has been consumed in running after hunting
Architects, drawing- Engravers, & Writing-Engravers & Copper-Plate-Printers
copying working for them scolding them & doing their business. But with
the paper I sent on the 22d & the engravings
I send now I fancy you will find think you have
enough for present use.
You see I have
not been able to
get the writing
done engraved yet
in Plate 3d
If they dont satisfy this does not do
I doubt my long-winded Postscript will not stand
a much better chance. I have been working like
a horse: but work grows up under my feet.
