My plan notion, subject to your instruction is to hear
Mr Blackburne, but, with respect to the plan <add>contrivancy: but as an Architect to execute</add> I expect more from Mr
Revely. All my knowledge of him arises from consists in
my having met with him at Constantinople in
the year 1785-6 where I saw him four or five or six
times in the course of about three weeks, since
which I have had no sort of communication with
him. He was then at the close of an engagement
with Sir Richd Worsley whom he had been with
taking views of drawings of antiquities in Egypt, Greece
and other parts of the Levant. As a remarkably
ingenious man I have heard him highly celebrated
in that line. His character which has something
of singularity in it struck strikes me upon recollection
as being as incompatible with unfavourable to any thing of collusion
or peculation as can well be imagined. Open, Chattering,
querulous, making complaints of people, telling a man what
another says of him, and much more apt to make quarrels
with people than than to collude with them.
As at that period he was sur le pavé for he is
but a young man, it seems not improbable but
that notwithstanding his reputation of ingenuity he may
