1675 The bishop of Rochester, Dean of Westr who then
viewed Tothil Fields, gave up all right to it to the
Church Wardens of St Margarets upon Condition
that they should cleanse the ditches and keep the
road in repair, and also remove nuisances, and
in consequence of their agreement the sum of
Seventy five pounds (a large sum in those days)
was expended.
1686 Sand loam and Gravel dug in Tothil fields

1696 A Committee of Vestry to inspect their right
to Tothil Fields.
1718 Sand Sold from the Said Fields at Nine
pence pr Load – By order of Vestrys.
1749 Ploug'd pr ditto.
1764 "To all Builders and Others &c" Advertizer.
In 1764 an advertizement appeared in the
public papers under the sanction of the Dean
and Chapter of Westminster, inviting Builders
and other persons to take the Ground in Tothil
Fields upon Building leases. This was answered
by a counter advertizement from the vestries
of the united parishes of St Margaret and St John
the Evangelist Westminster warning all Builders
and others from taking the same. In consequence
of the latter advertizement the plan of the Dean
and Chapter was relinquished.
On the Part of the Dean and Chapter it was contended
by Mr M a vestryman that the Abotts and Sodality
of St Peter Westminster have exercised more than
Manorial Rights over the ground in question from
