After much desultory conversation it was unanimously agreed to wave the question
and neither until the Plan had been more explained, and had made further possessors
go the length of adopting or opposing it; but as it was necessary that an Answer
should be given to the Dean and Chapter the vestries came to the following resolution.
Resolved: "That the Thanks of these Vestries be given to the Dean and
"Chapter of Westminster, for their Communication of an Intention to apply to Parliament
"for to obtain an Act to erect a Penitentiary House in Tothill Fields and that they
"be requested further to favor these Vestries as soon as the said Plan shall be
"sufficiently ripened with the nature and extent thereof and of the Satisfaction
"intended to be proposed to the two Parishes for the relinquishment of their Rights.
"Thereon the vestries of the said Parishes will maturely reflect and confer with the
"Dean and Chapter without delay."
