to the entering into engaging in an investigation the result of which
could not, as it seemed to us, in any event repay the make amends
for the consumption of which it would have necessitated,
we forbore making any inquiry into the cause of so unprecedented
a delay. Confining our views to the future, Turning our backs upon the f past and our faces to the future, all we can
do, and in our view of the matter we can do no less, is to
recommend that no further delay be added to that which
is past.
