Panopticon Narrative
A.1 Request humbly made March 1802 to the Right Honourable
the Speaker of the House of Commons
by Jeremy Bentham of Queen's Square Place
Westminster Esquire, on the grounds mentioned
in a letter of this same date.
That directions be given to the roper Officer
to to examine the original of the a paper, which is intituled
"28th Report Pententiary Establishment No 9"
and dated Treasury Chambers 14 July 1800: and
which constitutes occupies the p.50 in a Treasury Report
intituled "Further Proceedings of the Lords Commissioners
"of his Majesty's Treasury &c respecting
"the matters stated in the Reports of the
"Committee of Finance" &c "Ordered to be printed
"15 July 1800": and having so done, to report
and certify to the said Jeremy Bentham for his
information, whether the signature or signatures of any person or
persons, and, if of any, of what person or persons
is or are now extant upon the face of such
original.
2. If, on such examination, it should b appear
that there is no such authenticating signature extant
on the face of the said article of the said Report
then and in such case to examine into the whole
series of Treasury Reports so intituled as aforesaid
according to the list thereof as hereby herewith transmitted in
the paper marked A.2. together with such other the like Reports
if any, as are not included in the said list: and having
so
