Letter III. Compensation

3. Question 3. If &c. can you state the amount of compensation
you conceive yourself entitled to under such circumstances?

Answer. In respect of the word entitled I do not
conceive myself to have any the smallest reason to complain
of the expression of any Honourable Gentleman to whom that word happened to
present itself. At the same time It is however that sort of word the employment of which renders
places it out of my power to give any direct or at least any immediate answer to the question
of which it forms a part. The obedience to the question I
will however venture upon a statement which perhaps may be
found to answer capable of answering the same purpose.
