Quest. 3. Compensation.

1. For the purpose of carrying on and applying to the purpose of the transferring from another design of a convenient nature
the intended Penitenitiary Establishment on the |^^^| of and in part binding of the
virtual equitable contract already entered into, on the |^^^| of |^^^| 179[9?]
£2000 money of that day, reduced by deductions to between
£1800 and £1900, was impressed into my hand by the
Treasury. Even now |^^^| 180 my Account in discharge has
been before the Audit Board and why it is that in all this time
I have not received any questions or information that it would
not be granted is a matter point in which I have all this while been
held in utter darkness.

2. For the purpose of the purchase of that part of the then
intended Penitentiary Ground which consisted of the piece of Land
£5 |^^^| clear then the property of the dangers of
and thereupon purchased accordingly £12,000 was paid by the Treasury
and together with and in virtue of the instrument of conveyance
and possession was suffered to be taken by me.

If together with a quietus an immediate quietus for the above-mentioned
amount £2,000, an offer were made to me £1800 or £1900 the fee simple of this ground were assured
that I would accept. If in addition to that any greater other
offer were made to me such additional or greater
offer were it ever so much greater, I would not accept.

The reason why I would accept compensation money to that
amount is this. The money has already was and is been expended disbursed
by government administration, and it were no fault of mine but any great misfortune that it
was not since applied to its proper use. At the time When I gave to the
purchase any necessary signature no intimation reason whatever
was given to me for supposing or so much as suspecting
that the land was not meant to be applied to its professedly
intended use.

that I have lost or suffered
